Okay, I'm just a little excited. Can you tell?

As I discussed earlier, Jake and I were deciding to open our home up to a foster child as well as remaining on the fost/adopt list for a second child.

Well, we decided to go for it, and I called our agency around 11:00. They immediately were happy to hear that we were willing to open ourselves up more to help. I was directed to the foster care coordinator who already met Jake and I at the orientation in July. He said he would contact us as soon as a child became available within our requests.

About 4:00, the phone rang. On the caller ID, I saw the name of our agency. I could feel the butterflies flying around inside my stomach. Jake happened to be sitting right next to me watching TV since Tuesdays are his day off. I could feel my nerves at an all-time high as I grasped the phone.

We got a FOST/ADOPT call for a 2-year-old girl!!! I couldn't believe it. As we were being briefed on the situation, I couldn't help but to get excited. Without going into detail, she requires an only child family.

I couldn't believe it and still can't. She will be placed next week IF we are picked, but it does look promising. Our agency said they will contact us for sure by tomorrow. If this happens, we ONLY waited 2 weeks from being 'approved'!!!

I'm still in shock!!! She loves Elmo and Winnie The Pooh which is EXACTLY the theme we have set up in the bedroom!!!

On top of all of that, the woman from our agency said that the SW (social worker) that I spoke to this morning suggested us right off the bat!!!!! Our fost/adopt caseworker happended to be off. I'm not saying this wouldn't have happened regardless, but I guess calling this morning couldn't have hurt...

I'm praying that things will turn out as you want them to and that the transition will be as uncomplicated as possible for all involved. What a neat thing you two re doing.

That is VERY exciting news! We adopted our son when he was 7 wks old. I knew his foster mother and he was her 100th foster child (they were an older couple in their 60's) and they went on to foster about 15 other babies/toddlers besides adopted about 4 of them.

I hope the transition goes smoothly for you and for the little girl. What a great thing you're providing for her. Let us know how things are going!
