OT -- Baby Teeth

Last week I had to buy a new "electric" toothbrush for DS because "the monkey told him he needed one". When we were at the dentist last month, while I was getting my teeth cleaned, he was watching a DVD on oral health care and had to watch it twice because it had a monkey in it. We were in target when the monkey conversation came up and he saw some battery operated toothbrushes, so I got him a HULK one 'cuz they were on sale. Heck, anything to get him to brush his teeth.

Anyway, got me thinking... When do kids start losing them -- Age 6. Somedays I swear I still can't be a parent 'cuz I don't have a clue about some of these things...

It really varies. Jazz lost her first one at age 4. I freaked out & called her Pediatrician who asked if it had trauma to it (NO), if it was the first tooth to grow in (YES) then he said.....its just time, dont worry.

Now Jada's kids starting losing their teeth late, but I think the average age is 6-8.

Jazz is getting the last of her adult molars now. The orthodontist says she has the mouth of a 12 year old & YES I AM TALKING ABOUT HER TEETH

Both of my girls were young. They both lost their first one about the time they turned 5. And like Melissa, I freaked out! I had no idea they could loose them that early. And I also called the pediatrician (LOL) and they assured me it was fine.

When I first noticed Kayla's tooth being loose, I filled out. I had noticed that it looked a little crooked one day after kindergarten and I felt it and it was loose. I was panicking and asked her if she accidently got hit in the mouth on the playground?!

But, Hannah followed suit. The only difference was that Kayla's adult teeth grew in right after loosing the baby teeth, but Hannah's took forever! Actually, almost a year to even start peeking out of her gums. At the end of her kindergarten year, she got the award for having the 'most missing teeth all year long'. She got so used to smiling with her tongue sticking out of that little opening (she was missing all four in the front at once) that she still does it in all her pictures!

I was so sad when her adult teeth grew in I really miss that toothless smile! Now she is growing up and I miss it!

Tammy thats funny with ALL 4 teeth!

I do remember Jazz saying her tooth was hurting shortly before that, but not all the time. I guess the "hurting" was that creepy feeling you get then its loose & you move it!

The following week her 2nd one next to it fell out. No calls to the doctor that time
