Our baby plans

Well as the title says, our baby plans are put on hold for now.

As most of you know I have probs with hemoptysis and there isn't any rhyme or reason as to what brings it on. After this hospital stay and the difficulty with the a/b's (allergic reactions) reality set in.

My Dr's dont agree with my husband and I about birth control helping with the hemoptysis so I stopped using it to see again if the bleeding would get worse. I stopped the Nuva Ring at the end of April. My bleeding started to progress in June. A little more frequent than usual. But I insisted on giving it more time.

Well July hit and the bleeding almost became a daily occurence. So I thought maybe I needed a tune up. So I went in for a tune up (and an agressive one) only for the bleeding to get worse not better.

So now here I am back on the Nuva Ring for about 4 days now. So only time will prove my opinion that it does help. Since putting the ring back in I have not bled once but its too soon to tell.

Having said all this my husband and I had a pregnancy scare about two weeks before my tune up. Come to find out it was just me charting wrong and my ovulation day was wrong.

But it really made the reality kick in that we are not yet ready for a baby. We really want to wait until our house is done being built and then reasses where we are then. If the time is right maybe we will try then.

But I have a question for all of you.
If my husband and I are right and the birth control helps control my hemoptysis and I have to be on it until I get pregnant, What are my options as far as me being pregnant. Can a RE work around that or is it impossible? Can I be on the brith control up to infertility treatments or do you have to be off it before you get the treaments?

I have a feeling the the hemoptysis will be ok while I am pregnant because its seems to be that way for most cfers that are affected by it. It seems to get better while they are pregnant and even my Dr agrees with that, even though he doesn't know why. To me it seems to be connected to the hormones. Thats just my theory though since I think the birth control helps me.

If you have any ideas please share them with me.

Thanks

Hi Kristina,

I'm sorry to hear that you are having such a hard time right now.

I've never had C-diff but have had lots of yeast/thrush infections in my time. As a matter of fact, I get infections everytime I'm on antibiotics whether it's by IV or oral. I would make sure to get the Probiotics, the ones you need to keep in the frig) and the yogurt. That should help you feel so much better...

I'm sorry to hear about you putting your baby plans on hold too. Right now, you seem to be struggling. It's surely not the best time to take that BIG step. I know that if I were in your shoes, I would put the plans off too. I can only imagine how you must feel about that. All your threads in the pregnancy section were always so excitable. I know you really want this, but I agree with you that now may not be the best time.

You may not be alone, though. My house just sold and will be moving the end of August. I intend to continue all my tests put probably will wait just a few months to make sure things are the way I want them before starting either IUI, IVF, Clomid, or whatever path I am directed in. A miscarriage would break my heart.

Hey, we still might be prego together. Who knows? I just want to give you some BIG hugs and let you know that you're in my thoughts. I hope you feel better soon!!!

I am sure it is a very hard decision but your health does come first so I commend you for the choice you have made

Well if you did IVF it could be better because you **might get pregnant right away and only have a couple weeks of hemoptysis potential or it might be a disaster because I had just done a tune up and had a bleeding episode during a certain point in my stim drugs so it **might have been made worse by the hormones at that point in the cycle. I bleed maybe 2-4x a year and it affected me, I believe. You normally take BC then when you get period you start IVF process.
