Over exurting your lungs ?

Sorry for the bad spelling, but anyway last few years Ive ran into a few cases where I believe I over exurted my lungs (or heart, or both), basicly its either been a hard day of work which I dont usually do and only tried cuz i was feeling very healthy at the time, this could be a 6-8 hour work day all walking and some climbing , or just recently a day at the fair, same deal 6-8 hours of walking and some climbing, now I generally walk fast, always have, but towards the ends of both of these days I would feel winded and have to pant or breath heavily just to walk slow, and here is the bad part, this lasts days after the event, I feel my airways somehow are still restricted and my heartrate is even more high then normal especially when doing any sort of walking or excerize...so I'm wondering if the upper airways have closed off, and it takes plenty of time and treatments to open them back up. My other question is I dont take inhalers with me, but could have an inhaler prevented this ? I dont have good lung functions and have just gotten used to doing most things while controlling my breathing, but im wondering if maybe I am going to have to start taking it easy on myself and not do so much so fast. Which is going to be hard for me, as my goal has always been to try to live a nomral life, and if I cant even walk the fair when I'm feeling healthy then whats the point of being healthy...

It could well just mean you need to use your inhaler (reliever, eg Bricanyl). If i dont use mine, it has affects for several days and restricts everything i do. Speak to your doctor about it, but giving your inhaler a go may well help.
Good luck

Would you think this could be allergy related? I notice that when I've been outside a lot that I am more congested and more short of breath & have always wondered if it could be allergies?

thanks for the replies, yeah i also thought allergy related, the first couple times it happened while I was working at a flour mill, so alot of flour, dust, and other stuff flying around, and I never used a "puffer" inhaler I mean i havent had a new perscription for 1 for like 6 years or so, guess its time to hit up the doctor about it...

I agree that an inhaler like Ventolin that is supposed to give quick relief would probably have helped you in those situations.

When this happened to me my pft's were down tremendously. Have you had a pft in a while? And why if you have lung problems would you not use in inhaler? people die from suffocation no air to the lungs? not trying to scare you but just don't understand why you'd want to make your damaged lungs worse.
