My 4 month old daughter Kayla has cf and we were in the middle of fixing up are home to sell when we found out she had cf.
My question is do we have to take her out of the house when we paint or lets say replace floors and things like that? or is there precautions we can take? Any advice thanks in advance.

I've painted in our house with my daughter here - I buy paint that has no VOC's so there is no harmful off gasing while it is drying. I mainly did this because I can't stand the smell of paint drying. I like the Sherman Williams Harmony line.

As for putting in new floors, I think as long as you are not creating a lot of dust it should be fine.

We have always had Nathan stay with his grandparents when we have done remoldeling. I would just for the fact that she is a baby with or without CF personally. With all the dust and fumes during remolding, persoanlly, I think better safe than sorry. Plus with all the dust being kicked up, you are kicking up bacterias, making them airborne, that mean little if anything to us "normal" people but are very bad for CFers. You really don't want to expose those little lungs to anything you don't have to, just my opinion and you have to decide for yourself and realize I have already gone through so much with my son that it just isn't worth the risk to us anymore. We have a lot of would of's, could of's, and should of's and wish we had known then what we know now.

By the way, she looks like she is a DOLL! What a cutie.

My daughter is 19 years old -- at both her work place and apartment building she has been dealing with construction. She has mentioned that she felt it is irritating her lungs... her PFT's didn't drop, but she wasn't feeling tip top shape.

With a baby of course you don't get to hear that feedback...so my advise would be, if you can get her out of the house, (or at least be sure to keep her in an isolated room away for extra paint fumes and dust) it might be for the best.

You might also want to consider getting a good HEPA air filter -- we have one on each level of our house here and our daughter has one in her apartment. They are a little spendy -- this model does an entire house ... I'm sure you could find smaller units that do less square footage if necessary -- the important part is the HEPA -- if you wanted to get a smaller unit and just do one room.
