Perfume

I haven't worn perfume in a very long time (years???)... I put some of the other day and I had trouble breathing. I had to go and wash it off (the best I could).

Any one else experience this with perfume??

Hey Carrie,
I do not know if you knew this, but not only does my son have CF, but my mom did, too.

My mom had a very difficult time with perfumes, hairsprays, etc. She also had an asthma component to her cf, so I don't know if that makes a difference, but I remember times when we would have to leave church, card shops with scented candles, etc. And if it were a special mass that called for insence, Watch Out! That would push my mom over the edge and I'd take her to the parking lot to cough it out.

Some people are just more sensitive to scents, too. I'm one of them, and I have no lung disease at all. I can only imagine what a sensitivity on top of a lung disease would feel like!

Used to be able to wear it.... now I can't stand it and can't stand it on others.....

I have an incredibly sensitive nose though (I can smell things many others can't) so I always attributed it to that..... but allergies to perfume are certainly quite common

I have problems with many scents of perfume just as I do candles. So I stick to what I know doesnt bother me like the softer musk smells & vanilla.

Anything floral puts me into immediate bronchial spasm!

I had the cable guy here yesterday who was wearing a great scent. I kept following him around just to get a sniff
