Ok my sister is 5 foot 2 and blew 2.11 for an FEV1 today and a nurse said that is about 80%. Is this true ..... could it be that high?? She is going to ask for a percentage when she has clinic next its just she was in a hurry.

What Im asking is that you provide your height, FEV1 in litres and as a %.

Thank you

I don't know my height in foot..
But i'm 1.54 meter, fev1 is 1.30 liters and that's about 50 percent i think..

I think my height would be around 5 foot 4.. i think.. talked about that with someone ones but don't know for sure anymore. So when i compair i think 80% for your sis would be about right

Here a a couple of links that might help you figure out what her predicted value should be.

<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/pftlab/predeqns.html">http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/pftlab/predeqns.html</a>

VC = 0.1321*Height(inches) - 0.018*Age(years) - 4.360 [Women]

or

<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.micromedical.co.uk/services/predict/default.asp">http://www.micromedical.co.uk/...es/predict/default.asp</a>

After you fill in the info, make sure to change the predicted Values to 7-Knudson.

age also comes into play as well stickylungs. if your sis is 80% im guessing she is over the age of 25? if not, then they have overestimated her % a bit. but still, 2.11 litres is a good result for someone of that height regardless of age.

I am 5'2" and when I blew a 2.00 for my FEV1 it was 75% so your sister's nurse is probably right.

i am a male and my fev1 is 2.3 to 2.6 depending. i am 6 foot neat and 35, which is around 50% predicted for someone my age height and sex. your sister is as close to 5 foot as a blind man could see so if they say 80% i would believe them. after 30 years of age your predicted fev1 drops away slightly as per a normal person. 80% is great so keep working hard at exercise. your fev1 or fvc percent is a comparison to the "normal" person of your age sex and height and their personal spirometry. hope things go well 4 u, lotsa luv Blacky
