I wasnt dx until I was 7 so as long as I remember having CF, I remember dong PFTs. I am sure a lot of it depends on the doctor, but since PFT are so effort dependant the age of the patient is a big factor so much depends on that as well. Ask & see what they say!

It depends on the "development" of the child...a four year old that has good ability to cooperate and perform instructions can do a basic spirometry.

Jason started at 4. They said it was a good age to start to practice. Usu. by age 6 all are able. Jason was actually able to right from 4. Jo Ann - mom of Jason age 7 and Tom age 10

Normally children don't start until they are 5 or 6, but our doctor said that we could start at age 4....I think it depends on your child.

I have a daughter that is 3. We just did pft when we went for her anual visit. She actually blew great results and was right on target. My husband starting working with her when she was 2 1/2. We got the birthday blowers and starting showing her how to blow into them and hold them out with her breath of air as long as she could. She is was amazing.
