Our clinic is talking about what kinds of things can be done in the hospital, and at home for PT, which includes exercise. Infection control policies and staffing shortages pose a problem that limits any PT inpatient to the patient's room. Some are using Wii Fit and Sports. Some of the old fashioned ways, stationary bike, treadmill, etc,are still being used as well. The problem is, the traditional ways of doing PT aren't fun. What kinds of things would you be willing to do that you could do for a half an hour in your room in the hospital? Then, once you get home, what do you do or what would you do for exercise?

I play with a Bouncy ball in my room, I go running all over my room to get it, I know it sounds childish but hey I find it fun. But I would much rather go outside the hospital and walk or run. Next time I go up I am thinking about taking my bike with me so I can bycicle around campus.

I do know A CFer that takes all of his own wieght equipment up there. I have heard people playing drums, while it gets old I think it would be good exercise.

I do correspondence courses so I'm at home a lot. My mum makes me do sport about twice a day, depending on what exercise I do.
Right now I am doing a Taebo workout (Billy Blanks Taebo). I do it for about twenty minutes at a time. If I have already done something long and strenuous in the day like swimming then I do the 8 minute workout
If making noise isn't a problem then you could learn to play the drums, or the trumpet. Another one is the flute or even the recorder (easiest to learn in my opinion).
Be creative, if you can, takes dance classes and practise in your room, or just sing really long and loud when no one is listening
Do what you love doing, and make it fun!
