picc line question

<br><br>My daughter's picc was removed on friday. It was her first one, and i'm not sure if it's healing normally. both the stitching points and the spot that the picc went in are are red and somewhat swollen. she says it doesn't hurt, and she has no fever or any other signs of infection. she's also on bactrim which would probably prevent infection... i think?? any thoughts would be helpful. we are very new to all of this. thanks-C

My daughter seems to have redness and swelling after picc lines.  It goes away in about 4 days.  I was concerned too but it's not a problem.  <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"><br>

I would just watch it, I know that his bleed quite a bit when it was taken out and it could be the vein that it was in was hurt when it was taken out. We have only had 1 PICC line so far, knock on wood but I would just give it a couple of days as long as it doesn't get worse.
