Thanks for the great support and advice , everyone! I went to the doc today and he removed my PICC, THANK GOD! I had the IV two weeks today, so he said it was okay to remove. He thinks that maybe a blood clot might have formed around the line and that's what was causing the pain. At any rate, it's out and I'm so relieved. Thanks for everyone's kind words. I have a deep respect for anyone who has a PICC Line or a Port on here..

*plugging ports* ....

I feel sorry for anyone with a PICC line... or a port that's causing trouble. But all in all, mine's awesome. lol

I'm glad you got it pulled, though. I always hated PICCs. I don't blame you at all.

I never cared for piccs either and refuse to get them . I havent had one in years because it seemed each time i got one i had nothing but trouble with them whether it be that they couldnt pull it out, it was once in my jugular, i got phlebitis, they once hit a nerve putting one in and i couldnt feel my hand or arm for a long time...... after that, i said NO MORE !! I now stick to peripherials and if i ever need iv's often then i will be choiceless to get a port. But i am trying to hold out on that for as long as possible

I had one and I hated it. I made the mistake of keep my arm in one position and my arm got super stiff (we had to exercise it to get it to relax and not lock up). For me it was more of an visual annoyance. I was in college and everyone stared at it (finally wore long sleeves to hide it). I slept with a pillow under it and it made things a bit more comfy at night. I kept keep getting the "backflash" (I think that is what someone called it)... we would flush it out and it would be fine (it I got too active it would get more blood in the tubing).

Give me a regular IV any day over a PICC.
