It has been a while since I posted and update but I am in desperate need of replies as soon as possible!

I am now 28 weeks pregnant with twins and this is the second time I had to go on ivs due to an infection. I just finished the ivs and now everything is coming right out of me. I have increased my enzymes but I think it is the prednizone coming out that is making everything I put it come out.

Well I weighed myself today and have lost 7 pounds. I am so scared. Does this mean the babies have lost weight? It is SUnday and no one is in the office so I don't know what to do ...

I am crying right now so hard, more than anything I don't want to hurt my precious baby boy and girl.

Also, at my last obgyn appt I have been put on pelvic rest due to my cervix shortening. It was 2.0 last week where as four weeks ago it was over 3.2.

The goal is to get me to 32 weeks which is 28 days away then the babies would have a great chance of not having long term problems. Can someone/anyone please help me??

Kelly,

You may have lost fluids and a little fat. Your body will nourish your babies before you so they are likely fine. Can you call the emergency number for your doc? Maybe there is something you can take for this tonight until you can be seen.

As for your cervix, you need to just rest and relax. Stress is not good right now so do whatever it takes to calm down. A short cervix can hold to full term. Mine was 2cm from 30 wks and I carried a big baby to term with just bedrest. If you feel contractions or pressure low down, lie down. Listen to your body. Feel better soon.

Hugs,

B

I highly doubt your babies have lost any weight - remember they're still very tiny right now.

Are you taking any probiotics to help heal your gut? Antibiotics can wreak havoc on our digestive tract and we lose all our good flora. You need to restore the good bacteria to help with your digestion. If you're not already taking probiotics I suggest that you or someone go to the health food store ASAP.

Remember that you need to RELAX. All that stress is not good for your babies. Take some deep breaths and tell yourself that everything will be alright and that your babies are healthy and strong. When you start to have anxious thoughts, your body releases cortisone. Last semester I took a graduate stress class (basically how stress affects animals and humans) and wrote my paper on the effects stress has son pregnancy and short and long term outcomes in babies and children (and animals). Please trust me when I say it isn't good. If you're open to "alternative" therapies, something like Hypnobabies might help you to relax and think god thoughts. They have lots of good scripts for pregnancy and birth. The owner is extremely helpful and would help you find the right scripts for your situation.

Keep us updated.

Kelly, it's highly unlikely that your weight loss of 7lbs is affecting your babies. What happens first and foremost is that the "loss" will come from you. Your babies are like parasites at this stage, taking anything and everything from you that they can. So you need to watch over your own body, you can become very weak and mal-nourished and will LONG before it will affect your little ones.

So just do your best to keep eating. If you need ideas of high calorie/high protein foods and snacks, let me know. I had to get in 3000 calories and 200g of protein a day (that was my goal at least) and I got pretty close most days.

Are you taking vitamins? You should definately be on a prenatal, plus an additional calcium and iron too.
