Hello Cf Family! I have just started a petition to try and ban smoking at the entrances to businesses. I have found that since many restaurants have banned smoking, that the smokers sit right outside the front door, which makes the concentration even higher that we must walk through. I am not trying to ban smoking, but rather move it away 300 feet so our children with compromised lungs, can walk a little easier into a public building. I honestly thought this was part of the Ohio law banning smoking in all workplaces/restaurants/bars. We have signs on our buildings where I work (a University) that says that it is illegal to smoke within 25 feet of an entranceway.

Are you trying to get this to be national or state? I think at this point its legally a states jurisdiction. Many states have this as laws.

Regardless, I hope you get something accomplished I absolutely HATE when people smoke around an entranceway, and I'm usually the "jerk" who tells people the law.

National...but I will take whatever I can get. It will be up to each state once they get there letters and emails. In VA you cannot smoke in restaurants and on most hospital grounds, but it seems everywhere we have to walk right through it to get into the no smoking building. Ugh>
