As I previously posted I've been having pleural pain since Tuesday. Nothing seems to help! My doc said to alternate heat and ice and take lots of ibuprofen but its not working. I'm in just as much pain as ever. If anyone had any advice please tell me! I'm going to call the doc back on Tuesday (since tomorrow is a holiday).

I am sorry that you are in so much pain... I don't know how to fix the pain other then to call the doctors service and tell them you need something called in for pain... (which I would recommend over vodoo anyday ha)

I just want you to know, I know what it is like to be in pain, it is scarry and horrible and I wish I could make it go away for you.. I personally am taking pain meds today because my pain is so bad.... and I know for me, when I am in pain, I get scared and wonder if I am going to feel like this forever.

PLease call your doctor tonight, at least talk to whoever is on call and covering.. and tell them to help you.. demand it.. No one should have to suffer in this much pain....

Hope you feel better soon and get the relief fast..

I had pleuracy when i was little, two times, from what I remember. The pain was so horrible that I was afraid to ever have it again. I started to increase my CPT sesssions and did this faithfully and never had pleural pains again even toward the end of my cf lungs. From what I remember it is an infection within the pleural membrane? Not sure but keeping the lungs clear will probably lessen your chances of this happening again.

I do not think I would massage the area as you do not want to spread it. I would only put ice on the area but if heat feels better use that.

Take some deep breaths slowly. I know it is hard to breathe because of the pain but clearing out your lungs will help. Breathing through the pain might help you.

Just keep your lungs as clear as possible. Maybe taking extra vitamin C will help. I have no clue just trying to help.

Pluerisy CAN be caused by an infection but not in my case. I had a chest xray and a CT scan of my chest and nothing showed up. Fluid from an infection would have, if not on the x-ray than on the CT. I have no other signs of an infection either, no fever, chills, aches, no abnormal coughing or sputum production.
