plueritic pain

I was wondering if anyone has experienced what my doctor calls plueuritic pain? It is like the pain you have when you have pleurisy ( inflammation between the chest wall) It is a horrible pain that just stays there for a few weeks, (almost feels like trapped gas) and it can be almost excruciating to cough. Sometimes the pain can stay in one place, and other times i have had it in a bigger area like my whole one side. Currently i have it in my rib area right next to and below my left breast. Wearing a bra is almost painful...lol Problem is .... it is usually treated with anti-inflammatories, but due to my bleeding problems, i cannot take them. I dont like the feeling that pain meds give, so i just bear with it and take tylenol.

I sympathize with you. I have had this pain before & it cant be described You have to experience it. I was in the hospital in 1/2000 for a month being the sickest I have ever been in my life & wondering in my heart if I would come home to my daughter & husband. This was first experience with it & it took 3 months for it to go away completely. Ever now & then it flares up, but hasnt stayed. At the worst time I was having hemoptysis which I am very prone to so anti-inflmmatories were not an option. At one point they gave me Tylenol with Codein just so I could get some sleep. I couldnt use it for long because the codeine supresses coughing & of course I couldnt have that. For the most part I used regular Tylenol & lots & lots of warm compresses. I dont know if there was more than can be done. I tend to take on pain when I shouldnt or dont need to thinking thats how its suppose to be. Good Luck in finding relief!

ahhhh....fluid in the pleura! not fun. I don't mind pain at all, but this is a little different. This is beyond pain. I could not get up, sleep, lay on my side, cough, breath deep, etc... Tylenol with codien did nothing, Vicodan did nothing, morphine....a little, 50 units of DEMORAL...WOW!!!! No pain, go to sleep, wake up 4 hours later and shoot some more demoral. Demoral is synthetic heroin for those who do not know and don't be scared to ask for it if you ever have this problem. It's extremely addictive, but it was the only releif for weeks. Like I said, I can endure some pain, but this had me in tears daily. Go for the demeral!!!

I have had excruciating chronic localized chest wall pain for years. ALL my doctors said they've never seen anything like it. I'm 43. They call it "nerve pain' or 'nerve damage.' I get nerve block shots frequently and take pain medications. I am so glad to know you understand. GSH

BOY o BOY do i understand......... I am finally starting to get some relief from this pain after almost a month. It got bad last week and it just hurts so darned bad to cough. Almost feels like there is duct tape attached to my dry chest wall and someone rips it off slowly. OWWWWWW....i used to get aches and pains like this before , but it didnt use to stay this long. This is the third time i have had it. First time i was convinced i broke my ribs and couldnt imagine why it wasnt showing up on xray. i hope we all find relief from this
