pneumonia

Hi,
I have not been much in the past few months because everything has been going well with my daughters CF. I guess I was just enjoying the ride while it lasted. For those of you who don't know/remember me my daughter is 5 yrs old and was diagnosed at 2 months with failure to thrive. Generally she does very well for lung fuction. She is small for her age but we are accepting to it.
She has had a cough since October that we have been trying to get rid of and 3 months ago the respirologist had noticed that the cough was coming from this area. We've tried increasing her tobramycin and used a couple of oral antibiotics but it didn't work. Her last 3 cultures were clear, but she has cultured pseudamonas in the past. Recently she started Nasonex and the cough was a bit better, but not gone completely. She has also been getting headaches and started vitamin B2.
The other night she woke a few times with a pain in her back and then it moved to her chest. We were sent to Emergency for an x-ray and they confirmed she has pneumonia in the right upper lobe. It is odd because she has no other symptoms and seems quite happy, aside from the pain in her chest when she takes a deep breath or coughs. As a result she is supressing her cough, even after PEP.
I was just wondering if pneumonia is common in CF patients and if she is more likely for it to come back now that she has had it once? Is it ok that she isn't coughing right now?
These are all questions I have for the CF nurse on Monday but I thought someone may have some insight.

Thanks!

Does she get manual cpt or the vest? You didn't mention that. When my children are really congested, I rotate between the two. If she is just using the pep you might want to try other ways to get the mucus moving.

She does PEP in the morning and clapping in the evening. Neither one of them seems to be giving her enough incentive to cough and she still has pain when she does cough.
I am waiting for the CF nurse to call me back. She is generally really quick so I am trying to be patient.
