Poopie Run to Atlanta

Dear All,

Please be thinking about us. Dave is going to Atlanta to drop off Abby's BM collection tomorrow morning (2-3 hour drive from Warner Robins depending on traffic). Just looking at her BMs, they look very normal and smell very normal for a breastfed baby. We'll be glad to hear what they have to say.

I also am in the process of making her first clinic visit appointment. Hopefully it will be in the next week or so, but we all know what it is like to get in to see a doctor when you are a new patient. :)

Otherwise, we are doing fabulously well. Lucy does a wonderful job as a big sister. She asks to hold Abby and then when Abby starts to squirm or cry, Lucy looks at us and says, "I'm done!"

Abby is such a tremendous blessing. It is amazing how two children can be so alike physically but be so different personality wise!

How you feeling now? I'm so happy to hear that Lucy is such a helpful big sister, I'm sure that helps you out!

I know what you mean about the physical similarities but different personalities. Emily could not be more different than her sister in personality, but she looks jsut like Izzy did at that age.

We are lucky in that Craigs nurse can pick up his Bms as we are between the two hospitals that she works out of, but we have taken them ourself, with such a long drive, you might want to get an airtight container, or better still tie it to the back window wiper outside of the car..lol
As i have said before, our craig has these two genes, and he is pancreatic sufficient, hope it is the same for you, I know that everyone can be different. His poohs were and still are quite normal.

Thanks for the encouragement. The poo is in transit in an airtight container and packed in ice. THEY WANTED IT COLD! :)

Dave was told that it will take 24-48 hours before they have results and that the clinic will contact us. They may be waiting on that before they call me back to schedule an appointment. :)

Suddenly the song "Midnight Train to Georgia"... Is going thru my head.

Yep, cfers and their poop. My MIL, who taught nursing at the college for over 20 years called me into the bathroom the other day because she was concerned with Max's multicolored poop. It was a beautiful rainbow caused by spagettios, blue trix yogurt, rocket popscicles and who knows what else he had to eat that day. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
Bad enough we have to figure out if it's too greasy, too stinky, too hard... but then preschool celebrates St. Patricks Day with green milk for all the kids and it really throws me for a loop. L

Oh my. I've started a what color poop freaks you out the most post! :) I would have to agree...only we would appreciate and understand the humor and seriousness of this! :)

We should know something on Tuesday. Dave had to sign a release to send the BM to a 2nd lab. The 2nd lab had to send it on to a 3rd lab. Got to love insurance! :) Had we had the HMO instead of the PPO for Cigna, they would have done the test at Egleston's lab at the Children's hospital instead of having to send it out.

There's always got to be something that holds everything up, isn't there? It can't ever just be cut and dried... here are your results on the day you expected them. We're wishing you the best. I remember when I made the poopy run... apparently the doctor forgot to forward the paperwork over to the lab and they wouldn't accept anything without written approval, and then after calling the Dr.'s office, they couldn't find the original paperwork that supposedly had been faxed and on and on... until FOUR hours later I was actually able to relinquish the poopy. Ugh... the things we do.... but they often do make good things to laugh about after the fact. It's pretty funny now with Ella being potty trained. She has her own little potty that she goes in and then we dump everything into the big potty. She always sticks around to see if her poo poo sinks or floats. I can only imagine how this might play out when she gets older and is going to school.
