Port itches!

I had my port place back in September. The incision has completely healed and I have had no problems with it...up until a few days ago, it has started itching like crazy, and when I scratch it, almost hurts a little. Is this normal? Has anyone else experience this? I have been putting Jergen's healing lotion on it (it is not currently in use), but that does not seem to be helping. Any advice from you pro port users!?

Hi,

My port itches after everytime it is accessed. My skin is very sensitive and pretty much everything irritates it. It will still hurt on occassion, after I am scratching it. Oh, and I got my port in July, so mine is fairly new as well.

My scar occasionally itches as well-I just tell myself it is b/c it is healing. ;-) I had my second port placed in May and used Mederma (it is a scar healing cream) and this seemed to help.

WOuld you guys/gals recomend getting a port. i am 21 years old been in hospitol at least 2 x each year for long time.ive been thinking about this.

How does it feel after being placed. how long does it still hurt after being placed? Left right side make a differnce. lifting restrictions or anything. i play pool on wensday and thursdays and if i had one placed it would be friday or monday.would i still be able to? give me any good first hand good and bad experiences please.
