Hi I am new to this forum as I'm in a bit of a pickle, I had to join to seek all of your expert opinions/advice. Basically where I'm at with our CF friend at the moment, I'm pretty well, only have a port because veins are so bad, require IV's 2-3 times annually, FEV1 around 104%.
Anyhow I exercise a lot, and yesterday I climbed a mountain with my dad, it was the hardest thing I've ever done, physically I was knackered and panting. Anyway, all was good and well until a couple hours later where I noticed the arm I have my port in, felt very tense and my veins were pretty prominent all down to my hand. Felt like I had a tourniquet on my arm. The pressure and discomfort has been coming and going since yesterday, I'm thinking of giving CF nurses call in the morn as it'll be Monday. But can anyone tell me if they've experienced anything like this? I'm thinking the heavy exercise induced it as I've never had a problem like this since I had port placed last June, & I don't believe in coincedences
Would really apprecaite anyone's opinions to calm me down til tomorrow, thanks!

The one thing I always say regarding problems with ports is that it should be checked out if it is something out of the norm. I have never personally experienced what you are describing, but it sure sounds odd. I would get it checked, it could be anything from a clot to the catheter being cracked or it could even be okay....
Is there any swelling in the arm or is it just the prominent veins and pressure?
I would call the doctor earlier if this continues just to be sure.
Sorry I couldn't be more help...I hope everything works out and welcome to the site!

Thank u guys for ur replies! It's been a while waiting to figure out the problem. Venogram showed stenosis in vein in my shoulder so I've to have a venoplasty done in the next couple weeks. Hopefully it'll sort it right out
