Post-Appointment

Well, I decided to get more persistent and find a doctor that I can hopefully have some kind of 'normal' relationship with.

It was kind of funny, really...When I called to make an appointment, the receptionist laughed as I described my old doctor's personality as 'odd'. It was as if she had heard that answer many, many times.

I was able to get in Monday with my new FEMALE doctor because I'm not new to the clinic. It is the same infertility clinic that I went to 1 year ago for the second opinion. I am seeing a different doctor, thankfully. The other doctor 'pushed' IVF saying that I had 'scar tissue from having previous abdominal surgery'. I then went to have a laparoscopy done to find out that there was NOTHING wrong...He just wanted money!!!

The nurse that I spoke to listened to me, and I described pretty much everything from the past 3 years. They already had my records from the first infertility clinic and CONFIRMED THAT I HAVE PCOS!!! The cervical mucus is the other factor preventing me from conceiving. They also want to get the laparoscopy records from last May from the regular GYN doctor that I just left from.

Basically, she said that this female doctor would be best because she is HIGHLY EXPERIENCED with PCOS. The nurse asked me IF I had any bloodwork done recently for my PCOS. I told her 'no' and that I haven't really been followed for it...I also told her that I was NEVER REALLY PUT ON MEDS TO CORRECT IT EITHER. She didn't like that response.

Although my cycles are 'normal', my eggs are NOT fully matured and are rarely released. If they do release, they are immature and incapable of being fertilized. If I were to get pregnant right now, I am at a 40% miscarriage rate within the first trimester. I would have to be on PCOS medication throughout the first trimester to keep a pregnancy.

On Monday, I finally will be heard. The nurse told me that this doctor WILL do an ultrasound, exam, and bloodwork while there. Then, we will figure out which med and how much I need to be on. I will require monthly bloodwork and ultrasounds to see if my eggs become fully matured. The med will probably be Metformin.

At that point, I MAY BE ABLE to conceive on my own. It would then fall on my cervical mucus. However, I'm taking it one step at a time.

My testosterone level was HIGH back then too. I wonder if that would influence lack of good quality cervical mucus. My hormones are messed up so I guess it's possible. At least I have a reason to be a b*tch. LOL!!!

I am having some pain on the left side too so I'm sure my cyst is back. We'll see...

Consult Monday!!!

I just learned something VERY interesting.

As many of you know, I have been a 'borderline diabetic' for years and years. During the last 2 years, my blood pressure has went from 90/60 to 126/84. I use to always be asked if I felt okay because I was low. Now, it's more like, "Your blood pressure is high. Are you on something?"

I'm not but have just learned that PCOS left untreated causes high blood pressure. This is because of the high insulin levels within the bloodstream!!! I do have components of IR (insulin resistence). I have failed my 2-hour glucose for years but pass the A1C at 5.7. Ultimately, I'm told to just watch what I eat.

Hmmmm...I remember having daily nosebleeds during the first week of having the foster boys. My blood pressure must have been sky high. I never said anything to anyone. It was gushing very strong and hard...They lasted for a long time too...
