Potty training and the vest

Hi all,

OK, my daughter is 4 and we are still potty training! Not fun at all, but she has a speech/lang. delay which has made this a long process. I think we are almost there, but everytime we do the vest she is having a bowel movement and can't make it to the bathroom! Of course it is always when I leave the room so I can't disconnect the machine and tell her to go potty. Is this common for the vest to cause a bowel movement? I know this is an unusual/gross topic, but everytime it happens I keep meaning to post on here and see if anyone else has been in the same boat and has any tips!

Thanks,

We don't have that problem, but I don't find it all that odd. All the shaking could make a kid with a tender tummy more likely to let loose. My daughter can shut off the machine, but can't take the vest off, to go to the batheroom. She regularly needs to stop to urinate, though. Sometimes I see it as a delay tactic, to avoid the vest.

I hope you figure it out, doesn't sound like a fun problem at all.

I second the potty idea so she can go quickly... or trying to remember to have her go first and/or adjusting vest times if she's predictable for what times of day she tends to go. The shaking of the vest has made some kids feel nauseous (it's made Emily feel worse when she's already feeling sick) so I'm not surprised it's triggered urgency in the other direction.
