prednisone

I was wondering how much you were on and if your face was still swollen.
I have not had a tx but have been on steroids 5 mg per day and I still feel like my face is huge.
Does it ever go away or is it something to live with forever after tx?

I'm on 5mg once a day. I might have been on a slightly higher dose when I first had my transplant in 2007. Looking back through pictures it seems that my face was really puffy and much rounder for about 2 years after the tx. I graduated high school in 2009 and I know for sure my face was still "puffy" But then looking at pictures from 2010 I can definitely tell I lost ALL of it. My face is MUCH slimmer now and has been for almost 3 years. I haven't really lost or gained a significant amount of weight since my tx. I'm short and petite though. It might have something to do with ones body weight? I'm just taking a guess there. The fact that you haven't had a transplant probably makes a difference as well.

I'm like Amber, only 5mg once a day for me I'm pretty sure that's the standard dose post transplant. I've heard of some people going off prednisone all together, but Cleveland uses it as one of my immunesuppresant drugs. Anyway... When it comes to the "puffy face" questions, I hated my face for the first year post transplant. But, when I was first transplanted, I was on a 40mg a day dose. As they've taken me down, I've noticed my face getting slimmer. I'm 3.5 years post now, and I think my face is pretty slim now, at least in comparison. Of course, I have gained 30lbs since I was transplanted, so that's changed my face (and the rest of my body) just from the general weight gain. It's a good thing though - I was only 96 lbs when I was transplanted.

Hang in there with the puffy issues. Eventually, you just kind of get use to it if it doesn't all go away
