Pregnant Again

My husband and I recently found out we are pregnant with our second child. Our first, a little girl, was born with CF; we had no idea we were carriers. She's about to turn 1 and is doing wonderfully. While this was not the intended route for a second baby, we are very excited about the impending arrival. This pregnancy is so much different than my first, which made me wonder, for those of us out there with more than one child, did you notice any differences in your pregnancies? Particularly between your CF child and non-CF child? As for myself, I had horrible heartburn right from the 6th week to the end during my first pregnancy. I also had a condition called polyhydraminos, where there was way more amniotic fluid than there should have been. Anyways, I was just curious.

First of all, congratulations!!!
When I was pregnant for the second time I did feel differently. I was never sick with Andrew, but was sick almost every day with Becca. I also carried them differently. However, I personally do not think this has anything to do with CF. I think most women have unique pregnancies for each of their children, with or without CF in their families.

What I did notice, though, was an unbelievable sense of calm. I did not really worry about a CF diagnosis. We did not have an amnio to check Becca before she was born. We just knew we would handle whatever God had in store for us. But there was just something inside of me that told me not to worry, and that she would be fine.

I wish you the best as you prepare for baby #2! Please keep us posted!

Congrats! I have three children (two w/out CF/1 w/cf). My last pregnancy was the baby with CF. I was uncomfortable for most of my pregnancy. I got to the point where I could barely walk without having a lot of lower pressure. I had absolutely no back/sciatic pain with my CF baby, but had it with the other two. Who knows if it had anything to do with anything??? Good luck to you.
