Hi! I am 25 w/CF and I just found out that I was pregnant yesterday. My husband and I are extremely excited, but I wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions for keeping healthy while pregnant. This is our first of course and I am a little nervous. I am usually pretty healthy all the time. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Alaina

CongratulationsI had a baby at 28 yrs of age & the pregnancy surprisingly went pretty well. Just do what your Dr suggests, get plenty of rest & read up on pregnancy & also what to expect when the little one gets here. I remember being real tired the first trimester but it got better after that. If you choose to deliver the baby naturally rather than a c-section, then it is alot of work & I was drained. I was also gestational diabetic & they wouldn't let me have anything but water while in labor & I think my blood sugar was low, so that's one reason why it was so trying during the birthing process.Just educate yourself, take care of yourself & enjoy seeing those sonograms, etc

First of all...congratulations! It is good that you are usually healthy. I was 24..almost 25 when I gave birth to my daughter...6 yrs ago this month. I was also healthy most of the time. I also became a gestational diabetic towards the end of my pregnancy...so I was induced 3 weeks early. The wonderful thing is that more than likely you will have an ultrasound every month...just to make sure everything is ok. I also became very tired during delivery.....and because I was I knew I was going to be induced...I didnt get to eat anything at all that whole day...and I didnt even get into a room until after 5pm that day....Man what a day! I know I took more prenatal vitamins than normally prescribed...I believe I was taking 3 a day....plus all the regular meds. It is a very exciting time...enjoy every moment of it! Exercise...I am a line dancer...so I continued line dancing throughout my whole pregnancy...looked a little funny an pregnant woman dancing...but had a great time...and it helped my lungs. I carried low too...so that helped keep the pressure off of my lungs. I did away with caffeine throughout my pregnancy too....My pregnancy was the healthiest I have ever been...and even gained about 20 lbs! Good luck...again Congrats! And if you have any questions...I would be more than happy to chat with you! I have yahoo and msn...just let me know.Dea
