Pregnant w/CF and Terminating

Hi, I want to hear some of your experiences you've had in abortions and why you did them. When I first got pregnant I aborted it thinking it would kill me and/or my baby if I had it (mainly because of what people were telling me) then 5 months ago I had a healthy baby girl. I do have some regrets on what I did to the first one because I strongly believe against aborting, but in some other ways I know it was for the best at the time.

I have never been in the situation of knowing my child had cf while I was pregnant. I didn't find out till my kids were a little older, but had I known that they had cf, I still would have kept them. I don't believe in abortion at all, I believe God put them here for a reason and he has a plan for them. You did what was right for you.

Jenni... I think she herself has CF, and that's why she aborted. Not that she knew the baby had CF. If I'm wrong, correct me, but that's how I read it.

yeah, Sarah's was the one with Cf. =-) Plese let's not turn this into a pro-life-pro-choice debate, That wasn't Sarah's intention, and it'll just get the thread locked. =-) And jenni, if you look a Sarah's post a little longer, and actually read it until the end, you'll find your scolding was quite unecessary. =-)

Jarod, not trying to start a fight here, but in Jenni's defense, I could see how she would think Sarah meant the child had CF (she wasn't very clear, in her topic nor in the body of the post). Jenni also just expressed her opinion about abortion, for her personally. Is that not what Sarah was looking for? I personally don't take sides on the issue because you never know someone's reasons for why they are doing it. And if I were in a situation where I might need to do that, I wouldn't want people to judge me, but I do think people are entitled to their opinions. Jenni did state that Sarah did what was right for her, give her the benefit of the dobut.

Sarah, congrats on your new baby.

Hi Sarah!

I can totally relate! I have cf, and I too have had a pregnancy termination. You have to do what's right for you in the situation you are in at that time. I was only 19, my health was not so good, I was depressed, and I knew that the relationship I was in was doomed which would lead to me raising the child by myself. I definitely plan on having a child someday, but that certainly was not the right time, and I have no regrets. To those who are "against abortion," the only thing I have to say is that you never know what you would do until you are in that position yourself. Hopefully you never will be, but no birth control is 100% effective!

Im sooo glad I went through with this pregnancy cause I wanted a child so so bad and she completes me so much. I needed a reason to take better care of myself and she's it.

Jennifer, there is a woman on this board (hollycatherine) who has put together a website specifically for CF women who are considering having childrem/are pregnant...and have questions just like you asked Sarah. I will look around to try and find the link, and if you look around you might be able to find it under other topics dealing with pregnancy and CF (maybe in he families section), otherwise, you can just post your own topic with HOLLYCATHERINE as the subject and ask her if she can give you the link. It is a great site she has put together.

For Starters I wasn't scolding anyone for their choice I was simply stating an opinion. Everyone has the right to choose to have or not have a child. I was looking down on anyone for their choice. I did understand her post completely. But on the other hand people came down on me for my response, without completely understanding it. We all have opinions I just expressed mine. Thank you Julie for seeing that. I'm glad someone understood what I meant

Hi Jennifer. Before I got pregnant I was going into the hospital with lung problems about once a year and still am, I was also on Prednizone regularly. My pregnancy didnt seem to change any of that. Im still in the same condition that I was. I dont know exactly what my lung function was before I got pregnant but I was told it wasnt bad. And I dont feel any different.

I'm the one with the website about fertility and pregnancy related things. The address is www.geocities.com/murrensnaturemamaSarah has written her pregnancy and birth story for me and it will be published on my website in the next week or so. Come and read her story. I don't have much to add about the abortion issue, but I do wish that people would read a post through before getting all hot under the collar. If it is a post that tweaks your buttons, read it again and make sure that you understood correctly - then post.

I'm sorry, too, I mean, to you. Your last line, "You did what was right for you" can be taken two ways, and since you said you were against abortion I thought you meant it in the mean way. =-) Just a misunderstanding. Please don't blame me for taking it the wrong way, it's easy to do. =-)
