My daughter is thinking of putting Graycie into preschool this coming year. We both had a meeting with the whole team of teachers, nurses and IEP team. There is a child that will be in her class with a compromised immune system, they couldn't go into details about this student but my concern is can this child be a threat to Graycie and of course would Graycie be a threat to that child? Also they stated that another CF student may be in a class in the fall. Do we have a right to know who this child is? If this is the case Graycie won't be going to preschool at this school anyways.

Hi. Can you give your information/permission to the school to pass along to these students parents? I have done that is similar situations and it has worked out fine.

UGH -- that's a tough situation. I don't believe you have the "right" to know who the other student is, but, as Edan says you can give your permission for them to share Graycie's info in hopes that the other parents will offer the same. I hope you can come up with a plan that works for you and Graycie...I would agree that being around an immunocompromised child could be detrimental for both kiddos considering Graycie's history and the rough roads she has been down, I don't know if its a good idea to risk this.

When applying to preschools, we disclosed that our daughter has CF and informed them that CF kids aren't supposed to share classrooms, so, if they already had one, we'd look for a different school, and if they took our kid, they couldn't take another CF kid into her class. Every school was fine with this, though we indeed had to pass on applying to one because there was already a CF kid there.
