Private pulmonologist and GI

Does anyone go to a private pulmonologist and GI instead of a cf center? What have your experiences been like?

We go to the CF clinic for pulmo, but choose to see our own GI who's in another city. The GI who is associated with the CF clinic saw my son for years and never once ever thought to test for CF, so we sort of hold it against her. Besides that, she is a quack (can you tell I'm a little bitter about her) - for years she insinuated that we just weren't feeding him enough and that is why he couldn't gain weight. I just have the CF clinic copy our GI doctor on all correspondence and visa versa so they both know what each other is doing - so far it hasn't caused a problem.
