Productive cough

My three-year-old son has had a cough for about a month. About two weeks ago it became pretty productive. I have had him to the doctor at once or twice a week in the past few weeks. He had an clear x-ray a week and a half ago. A week ago he cultured psuedomonas for the first time in two years. So he has been on Tobi and cipro for exactly a week. He still has a yucky cough. He didn't go to preschool the past two weeks because of his cough. Yesterday and today I sent him but picked him up before lunch because his cough seems to get worse at that point and he needs a treatment. After a week of Tobi and cipro, shouldn't his cough be a lot better?? I am worried that IV's are going to be the only option.
Thanks, Sharon, mom of Sophia, 5 and Jack, 3 both with cf

Sharon,

Sorry to hear that Jack is not feeling well!! I would definitely think that after a week of Tobi and Cipro his cough should be much better by now, maybe not completely gone, but should have improved significantly. Hayley has only cultured PA once, in July and we went straight in for IV's. I would definitely call the clinic and if it were me, I would push for the IV's since he is not improving! You want to get rid of that PA fast so it doesn''t colonize! Good luck and keep us updated!!
