Pulmonary Fibrosis

Did anyone have family members with pulmonary fibrosis (usually diagnosed when 50+ years old)? Just asking because my daughter was just recently diagnosed with CF and we have no family history of CF. But, my father and grandmother both died of pulmonary fibrosis (age 65 & 73). Just wondering if they could have had undiagnosed CF that slowly/quietly caused lung damage. There is no known cause for pulmonary fibrosis and drs think it probably has many causes. Just wondering if any of you more experienced CFers know anything about this or have an opion on it.

I just met an older woman with Pulmonary Fibroris. I met who thru a man that my husband works with. The man said that he knew a women who he went to church with & was wondering I could talk to her because she is at end stage & needs support. When she told me her age (67) I ??? what she had & found out that it was Pulmonary Fibrosis not Cystic Fibrosis, but the respiratory affects are quite similiar. There is no digestive issue involved. Thats all I can tell you about Pulmonary Fibrosis from experience.

My grandfather died of lung fibrosis, but he was a smoker, so it was always chalked up to that. We have always thought that he might have had a very mild case of CF instead - but there's no telling now.
