Has anyone who is using pulmozyme noticed that they culture bacteria, etc. less since they started using it? Just wondering because my 4 year old has cultured a lot in the past year, MRSA, mycobacterium chelonae, etc. and she is going it start pulm next week. I am hoping it will help keep the nasty bugs out.

Thanks!! <img src="i/expressions/rose.gif" border="0">

Pulmozyme isn't anti-bacterial and won't actually "kill" bacteria like Tobi would, what is does do is thin sections making it easier to get them out. Our bodies house bacteria in our sputum, less sputum less bacteria, that is the theory. It might not help get rid of those bacteria, in may keep them from getting worse. Keep up with you CPT and make her cough!

That is what I was trying to get at. I know it doesn't actually kill the bacteria, but I am hoping that she won't harvest (if you will) so many different kinds of bacteria. Thanks for your reply!

Hi everyone, my daughter is on pulmozyme and i think that she has been less sick since she started it about 5 years ago. True pulmozyme is not an antibiotic but it does loosen secretions and therefore i would think that less bacteria would harbor. Just my opinion.

Thanks
