I got an email today from "Cf Living" speaking about pulmozyme... my son is on Xopenex for preventative as his lungs dont seem to be extremely affected by cf just yet, but I was wondering what the difference in the 2 medications is, if anyone knows.

Thanks!

*ps, ill also ask our pulmonologist tomorrow, but i was curious NOW! hahaha (im impatient! LOL)

Xopenex is similar to albuterol, used to help open the airways. Pulmonzyme is a med that breaks down the DNA in mucous, making it less thick and easier to cough out. Both can be used together for good effect: xopenex first to help open the airways and then the pulmonzyme to loosen secretions for the kids to cough it out.

Hope this helps :)
