Question about testing

My son's pediatrician is testing for CF, but it seems to me that I would have seen some symptoms by now. He is eight and has never had any respiratory symptoms. He does have a lot of trouble breathing through his nose, especially in the morning, and allergy medication doesn't seem to help him. Neither do any over the counter drugs. He is extremely thin-44 pounds, and we can't seem to figure out why. He does have extremely large bowel movements, but that in itself doesn't seem to account to much. Is it possible that he could have this? I don't know whether his father or I are carriers or not..I've never noticed he has had particularly salty sweat or anything. My fiancee died of CF, but was not related to my son, so I am a little familiar with the symptoms, but I didn't think you could have CF without respiratory symptoms. Is this true? Thanks for any info you could give me...

I have triplets, all of which have cf. Two of them in my opinion are pretty much asymptomatic. They have some sinus issues, but that is pretty much it. They are also pancreatic sufficient, no enzymes. So I guess it is possible to have very little symptoms, but still have cf. Good luck with your testing.

I'm 25 w/ cf. THrough childhood I was pretty much symptom free,
lung wise. Lung symptoms didn't really start till I was 14 or 15.
