yesterday was a busy day, the kids first around cat, when normalaly they aren't around them. After that they were around our friends who are smokers, which i made it clear we would not come over if they smoke in thier house. they qurenteed they don't yet i saw an ash tray in their kitchen with butts.. The one friend came and got semi close to ds's face and cooed at him for about 15 secounds.I also had gotten so caught up in our busy day, he didn't get his morning cpt. I forgot the rubber thing we have to do it with so couldn't do it. THey went to my moms and he was fine and no concern. when we picked them up at night he was wheezy and sounded hoarse. my mom said he sleep the whole time and wasn't feeling well. she said she tried doing some pounding on his chest with her hand and he spit up some stuff.

When we got home I did all his treatments and now this morning he seems fine.

is this a common occurance? is from being around the smoker friend and her breathing in his face. ( I generally don't let any smoker close to him, so it made me very nervious anyway) is it from the cat exposure, or just a fluke and something was off in the air that day?

I figured today I would trough in extra treatments just to be safe

Could be anything... I know during DS first winter, he developed a bit of a wheeze from time to time. We were told to "beat it out of him". Seemed to help to increase cpt, get the bathroom all steamy.

Another thing to consider is to ask your RT to show you how to do cpt without the rubber suction cups. We learned early on how to do this in case we didn't have the cups with us, lost them or just wanted to do a mini-cpt treatment when we were out and about. I seem to recall we started out using our index and middle fingers at first.

My daughter has asthma on top of the CF, and that always causes her to "wheeze" when something triggers her. They tested her to see what she's allergic to, and cats are a HUGE allergy of hers! Extra albuterol always does the trick for her, and either her vest or acapella will clear her out. Maybe the smoke or cats set him off? Hope this helps<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
