I have a question, I figured the adult section would be my best bet for answers. I went to an auction today and there was a pulmo mate nebulizer by devilbiss. I bought it for $5.00 (even had masks- which I did throw away even though they were in new bags) Anyways, it is an older model wondering if this ok to use for like camping, or an emergency? They had paperwork saying it was purchased in 1999. It is nice though, I just cleaned it with bleach. It was funny because no one else was interested in it, they actually had 3 different boxes to chose from each $5.00 otherwise I would of probably got for $2.00. The other bidders wanted the other boxes. It sounds great, I know I get excited about a breathing machine....... must be a mother to a cf'er.

Compressors lose efficacy over time.

Their ability to effectively produce particles that are effective in the lungs deteriorates rapidly after 2-3 years.

My doc instists that i replace my compressor every 2 years to ensure that I am receiving optimal treatments each and every time (he's big on preventative treatment to preserve my lung function).

I wouldn't change it with a second hand compressor like that. No chance.

Hmm. Maybe you could check around (perhaps call the manufacturer?) and get the machine checked to make sure it is working properly? This would only apply, though if it is that they lose it over 2-3 years of use, as opposed to some components simply aging and losing it (like carseats and their expiration date- the plastic isn't as strong as it ages).

And don't forget to get a new filter if you do use it .

And I think I have 2 compressors I will throw away now- funny this is here, I looked at one about an hour ago and thought- I really should throw that almost 20 year old thing away. Basements, the catch all for the ages...
