Question regarding growth hormones

My son Noah is 12 and has cf. Today he went to the cf doc and has gained 8# and grew 4 3/4 inches. WHich is puttin gunder 3% for height and just under 25% for weight. We went to endocrine and they are looking to start him on growth hormones. He makes his own hormones, but they want to try adn give him a boost. If we do nothing they are saying he will be around 5ft, maybe a few extra inches.
My question is, has anyone else been able to get these covered when their child makes their own hormones? And if so how did you go about it? The doc says they usually only cover if your child is diffecient. So iam trying to prepare myself for a fight. I want to give my son every possible chance at some extra inches, but don't have the money out of pocket.

Not sure what insurance you have but Horizon BCBS covered Humatrope (HGH) for me with no fight. I was pretty short when I started probably like 5 foot flat and was on it for about 2 1/2 years and grew about 6 inches and gained about 40 lbs. I don't know if I was deficient or not all it took was a bone scan and some blood work and my endo decided it would help me out.
