My two wk old was dx'd with CF. I have always had a history of lung infections, pneumonia, severe asthma, sinus infections, bronchitis, and frequent coughs that don't go away easily, along with IBS and acid reflux. I've never had a problem keeping weight on, but I have read on here of people being diagnosed later in life. Based on my medical history should I be tested or do CF carriers frequently have problems like this as well?

I'm adopted and have no medical history on my biological parents. I'm looking into unsealing my records this week.

If you want to, go for it. Make sure you get tested for all known CF mutations using the Ambry Amplified test. Otherwise you'll always wonder if you have the genes that weren't tested for in the sub-par genetic test.

take care.

In terms of medical history -- DH and I looked back extensively thru geneology info and there is no record of cf or cf symptoms anywhere.

Hi there,

I was diagnosed while pregnant after I recognized I had symptoms. I'm 38 and have an 18 month old daughter (no CF). Why not just have the CF clinic run your Ambry Amplified? With your medical history it should be covered by insurance. It's just a blood test.
