QUESTION?

Has anyone had any problems with getting small stuff stuck in the tiny little hole, the part that attaches to the hose. This is the second time I had gotten some kind of black thing out that was stuck in there, and I had to get a needle with a ball at the end to get it out. I dont know if it is mold or what, I air dry my nebs but I wouldnt think mold or anything would grow in that tiny little hole, so I was wondering if any of you had this problem sometimes. It is so irritating tho, you go to start your stuff and nothing comes out cause of it being blocked then you have to stop and unplug the darn thing. ugh

Would love to here your input on this, thanks

I've not had that problem but over time I find that they start going slower and I figure it's the jet shrinking from all the boiling/microwaving I do after every use. Lots of things are black, but since mold/mildew is the one that is pretty predictable on damp surfaces, I'd say throw it away. Do you rinse and shake out the neb after you use it? I only use them once then put them into bleach/water/soap to wash

My nebs blog once and a while when I try to start them up, and its only because back in the day I would clean my nebs every few days. I know clean them once a day and don't have blockage problem. The blockage was from medicine build up. I have a question though - does anyone clean the tubing as well? If so - how?

All the nebulizer care instructions I've read say you cannot clean the tubing. I run the machine awhile after treatment is done to blow out any moisture - it's problem during humid weather mostly. I grab a handful of extra tubing from the supplies drawers in the treatment room at every clinic visit and just change it every month. The staff does not seem to mind handing out the tubing.

Just wanted to make sure there wasn't a way of cleaning the tubing, because I never have. I read somewhere that you shouldn't use the same tubing for different meds, but I suppose its a good thing that I only neb one medicine right now.

Hi - We sometimes have trouble with the neb cup clogging with TOBI only. It isn't the part that connects to the tubing for us - it is the tiny hole up in the cup part. Before we wash and sterilize, we run really hot water through the cup and give it a hardy tap and we don't seem to have that happen anymore. I think the TOBI gets sticky and stuck there. Oh and we run the water through right after we use it so it doesn't have time to gather in there. Hope this helps.
