Hi there guys,

I was wondering if anyone went to this center. If so I was also wondering what you guys thought of Dr. Malanga when he was at this center.

If any of you read my post a few days ago about my going to a new Adult CF Center in town, the doctor I saw was Dr. Malanga. I am almost certain that I will be starting to see him and changing doctors. I like the staff at the office - they had the its great to see you now lets get started kind of attitude and I like that. He seemed nice also.

I talked to him some and he said he had worked at the Center in Albany since about 1994. I figured that if there was any place to find any info out on him it would be here. I am mainly just wondering what people thought of him and their experiences with him in that center as their doctor - if they saw him.

Thanks so uch for any info you can share. As always it is valued and appreciated.

You know something, it's funny how you mention that you are going to Albany Med to the CF center. I was originally seen at the pediatric clinic a few months back..long story, I will be seeing Dr. Rosen in a few weeks. The CF nurse Ronnie is a sweetie and will have all the other lovely docs there too to poke at me..endocrinology, infectious disease, nutrition....she says it is going to be a very long day LOL! I like the staff, have met some of them so I think I will like it there. I have B. cepacia and CFRD, so I won't be withe the regular CF'ers. I wish you luck, I will certainly keep all updated. I did see another pulmo in UCONN, I like him but he wanted me to go to Albany instead because he was not a CF specialist and there was just too much going on with me. I have never met Dr. Malanga but have heard good things about him as well.

Hi Jenn,

I am actually not going to Albany Med, I am in Jacksonville Florida. Dr. Malanga relocated to Jacksonville to open an adult CF Center in town. He said that the CF Coordinator .. I think you mentioned her - he said her name was Ronnie - would be coming down to work with him in September. I guess she is relocating as well. When she gets here the center will officially open and start taking referals. I just made the appointment on my own without a referal, so that is pretty much how I (with my CF status) fell through the cracks.

He was apparently approached by someone at the Peds CF Center in town about heading up the Adult Center here - I do not know the specifics, but that is what I have heard.

Thank you for the info though. I am looking forward to seeing how things progress with this office. It is nice to have a place to go as an adult that can deal with CF lung issues along with the being prepared for the other issues that come along with the territory.

Hi Lindsey,

I was so surprised by your post. I live in Albany and my
husband was treated at AMC. My husband passed away in July of 2004.
Dr Malanga was his favorite doctor. I was very happy
with him also. Not only is he an excellent doctor, he is a
wonderful person. He is very down to earth. They spent quite a long
time talking about hockey during checkups . I am so excited for you
and others in your area- you have a great doctor. Dr Malanga
was on duty the night my husband passed away and I was so glad he
was there. He explained everything to us as far as options,
what was happening, etc. It was a great comfort to have him there.
I'll never forget all he did for us.
Jenn- my husband was also was treated by Dr Rosen and he too
is a wonderful doctor- I liked him because he tends to think
outside of the box. As busy as he is, I can't tell you how many
nights he called David at home to see how he was doing or discuss a
plan of action.
I think you both will be happy with your care ! Both doctors are
very committed to CF care.
I also had the opportunity to meet Ronnie. She was hired towards
the end of my husband's life so we only had a handful of visits
with her. But she is a great nurse and a very sweet person.
