Wondering what u guys do computer wise when in the hosp? How do u get your internet connection?
Unfort for me, I can't use any 'teen' room or public computer bc I have cepacia. So I am really locked into my room.
We have a laptop-and wifi on a little ipod thing but we didn't get any wifi signal last time in the hosp. Sucks.
Here at home we have cable hookup so thats not gonna help me in the hosp.
Don't know if I can do anything about this.
I am not tech savvy.

technology MUST have an answer!!

I was in recently and I use my Verizon Wireless Broadband Card. However, you do have to sign up like a cell phone plan. If you dont go to the hospital a lot or you arent going to use it at home, the price may not be worth it. We recently got DSL at my house (I live in the county) and we just havent cancelled it yet because of the fine. It has a coverage area just like a cell phone plan. Verizon has pretty good coverage. I also took my DS w/ games & Portable DVD player w/ movies. I mostly used the DS. I would have gotten on the laptop more, but everytime I started on something, they would come in and bother me. So I got fustrated. Good luck. I hope you get better soon.

I have a samsung blackjack with data on my service plan ($30 month for the unlimited data through at&t). This is a windows mobile phone, and it supports tethering. I just plug the phone in and turn on internet sharing (which takes some work. Its a lot cheaper than getting a wireless broadband card, and the best part: I can just cancel the service whenever I want, as it is just an add on (like a text messaging plan) for my service plan. There are numerous other phones that can tether, but it takes some research. At&t also doesn't have caps on the data plan like the other carriers, a small price to pay (at least for me) for their spottier service then verizon. If interested in learning more let me know.

Whenever I'm admitted (like right now!) I just haul up my MacBook and plug in the Verizon Broadband WC. Works like a charm although as blindhearted said, you pay a monthly cost for the use of the wireless card. It's not too bad; especially if you're in and out of the hospital a lot.

When I was younger, I used to bring up my own TV and video game consoles and the days would fly by. Not that I'm too old for videogames anymore(XBOX360 at home), but it's such a hassle to drag everything up here and take it back. Basically, what gets me through the days are lots of books and a blazing fast internet connection.
