Recipe Ideas Please!!! :)

Hi! Okay, so I posted a question asking for creative fundraising ideas in the Families section, and one of the awesome ideas I got (thanks, Carey!) was to get a recipe book together, with patients and/or patients' friends/family's favorite recipes and stories. So....I'm writing now to ask you guys if you'd like to submit YOUR favorite recipe and story. If you don't want to give me your story, that's fine, you can always just sign it (Carey's example was: From Mary Smith, proud grandmother of Ethan w/CF), something like that. Whatever you choose is fine. The recipes don't have to be for CF patients only; they can be recipes for any food! Thanks so much!

Buggy, do you have an email address-I created a separate one to share on this site. I was going to get some good hearty recipies from my mom and grandma, as well as the very few I have in my book and then I can email them as a word document. It's a bit easier than putting htem on here. Also, this is somewhat off topic but not really, so I suggest you paste your question in the adults or families section too.

Let me know, or you can email me at division902@hotmail.com

To the original poster:

That's a great idea about putting together a CF recipe book. Another twist you could put on that is making it a CF cook book. Include lots of recipes that are high in calories. For instance, when I drink my scandishakes I like to add scoops of ice cream, some malt mix, hershey's syrup, and choclate chips. It makes it really tasty and adds more calories. Perhaps you could talk to a social worker and someone in the CF foundation about helping you put your book together and helping distribute it. The foundation could sell them on their website.

Cool idea! This is my favorite dessert and its nothing but calories and SOOOO good!!

Pana Cotta

1 1/2 tsp. gelatin
2 tbl spoons cold water
3 cups heavy cream
1/2 cup sugar1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup sour cream

Sprinkle gelatin over water in a small bowl, set aside. Warm cream, sugar, and vanilla over medium high heat (DON"T BOIL). Stir in the gelatin and cool for 5 minutes. Add sour cream and whisk until its smooth. Pour into 4 individual ramakins or coffee cups that have been chilled in the freezer while the cream cooled. Put the cups in the fridge for 3 hours so the mixture can set up. Top it with whatever you like, pureed fruit, chocolate sauce, caramel sauce or whatever. To make a really easy and yummy chocolate sauce melt your favorite chocolate into an equal amount of cream.

Sweet Tators Tator Salad

1# sweet tator (typ. 4/5 inches long 2 diameter)
Prunes 1 serv. (typ 4/5) Or Small box of Raisins
1/2 cup oats
P*NUT BUTTER 2tbsp.
1 food processor (trust me you'll need it to mix this)

Bake sweet tator (bake or nuke)Baked is better, brings out nat. syrup. While thats baking Processe prunes and P*nut butter.Peel sweet tator and throw into processor. And grind on high. You almost need a 5 hp. motor for this.Meanwhile get 1/2 cup oats and add just enough water to make mush.Throw that in to a processor and grind.
Then it is ready to eat.minimal cooking and time about 20 min and can hold up in the ice box for 3/4 days

I'd recommend this for breakfast trying to gain weight.I hope ya'll enjoy it if ya'll try it.Let me know what ya'll think if ya'll do.
