Recruitment for VX combined

I am so anxious to see what happens with the combined VX770 and VX809 drug study. To that end, I was trying to find out how far along the study is and when the results would be available. To my surprise, they are still recruiting for the 21-day phase 2 combined study. Apparently, they need a total of 160 CFers to participate and are testing in 21 sites (US and other). They predict that the study will not even be completed until July 2011, and again, this is only a 21-day study. Since they started in October 2010, I guess I don't understand why the recruitment is taking so long. I wish I could be a part of the study, but I am not located in one of the testing states (and am also participating in another study currently).

Anyway, I really want to encourage anyone who can to participate in a study. According to my CF doc, those patients who participate in studies are generally healthier, due to making sure they are doing all of their treatments as to make the study results accurate. Please, please, please if you can participate in one of these studies, do so. Here is the link for information on the recruitment for the VX 770/809 study.

I talked with my doctor about this a couple of weeks ago at an appointment, and followed up with one of the research coordinators via e-mail. I was told that spots will likely be very limited so they couldn't promise me anything. I really hope I get to participate though! Even if I ended up on the placebo I would love to be a part of this study.
