rectal pain

Hi - my son with cf is 6 and just recently started to complain after some bowel movements that he feels like he has a "wedgy" and it really hurts. We cannot see anything that looks irritated or not like it should. I feel really bad and I don't know what to do for him. He takes enzymes and his stool looks normal. He doesn't normally have any other digestive issues unless he doesn't get the approp. amount of enzymes. Has anyone ever had an experience like this. It has been happening for about a month. We go to clinic in a couple of weeks and I will also ask there. Thanks. Jo Ann

My daughter had this when she was little. She had this pain for a little while before she starting having problems with rectal prolapse. Sounds alot worse than it is. Talk to your doctors at clinic when you go in and they can give you some solutions to the problem. Good luck!

This can be a common thing. A lot of things could be causing it, so I'd say asking the doctor is a good idea. Just don't think it's too odd, or unusual. I have a regular proctologist that I see when I need to.

My son has that problem.. he cries when he has a bowel movement.. i asked the dr about it and they said that it may hurt when he poops!! he has also had like 5 rectal prolapses and i thought that was the reason he was crying maybe he was thinking that was going to happen again the dr said it could be a little of both... but he has never taken the enzymes.. so that could also play a role.. i know when your taking too many it can make you constipated.. dunno if any of this helps!!! I would say that sometimes I hurt because of the large bulky size. Preperation H helps me alot, but definately ask Dr first before trying it on a child, I may have another "un-named" condition that Prep H is perfect for if you know what I mean. lolAlso, it down right burns when I have greasy BM's. That normally goes away after a few minutes, but it's not fun.
