I got a call from the Cf clinics nurse today. She said after reviewing Austins records and stuff the doctor decided he wants Austin to start taking Zyrtec. And that they already faxed the script in so it should be ready at the pharmacy.

Wow cuz yesterday they said they wanted it to run its course. Oh well atleast I know he was checking things out for Austin.

Katy takes Zyrtec (per the CF doc) on an as needed basis more for allergy-type nasal drip. It does work well for her; I hope your Austin is feeling better soon!

But now she is working on a sinus infection; called the CF doc yesterday assuming he would call in an antibiotic. Went to the pharmacy and instead he had prescribed Rynatan Pediatric Chew Tabs (I had never heard of it before) which is a combo of chlorpheniramine (antihistamine) and phenylephrine (decongestant). I thought I read somewhere (not just CF'ers, but in general) that it was stupid to take the two combined. And I also thought I read that children weren't supposed to be getting cold medicines anymore. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif" border="0">

Oh, well. Good old-fashioned saline drops and some other homeopathic type things are sounding better and better.

I was just curious because I'd asked Max's doctor once about a decongestant nasal spray for a day or two just to clear the sinus congestion and was told absolutely not and I'd thought certain antihistimines were a no no because of the drying aspect. I remember Amy (sakasuka) once had a list of what was okay for cfers to take...
