Resistant port flush

The nurse came to change my port needle today and we noticed that this is the second week that the flush has been very resistant. She told me that I should be speaking with the surgeon who put it in to be approved for a heavier Heparin flush, I forgot the name of it. She said there is most likely a small clot in the line and the heavier flush would be given and it would clean out the line in order to save the port from clotting completely.

Has this happened to anyone else? ANY information is helpful!

They can TPN it, I'm not sure what exactly it is but it unclots the blood and they put it in and leave it in for a while and then pull it out and usually it should work like normal after that. If not, you may have to get a new one.
