That is quite cheap for 45$, and free amazon shipping too. I don't know that I'd buy one for myself, probably because I can feel changes in my FEV1, so I don't obsess on it too much. Yes, I do like to know my numbers, but I don't want to be tempted to check it ten times a day. It's certainly not a bad purchase for that much money, but if you were going to spend your own money on a piece of equipment I'd reccomend an Oximeter (pulsox) first, if you don't already have one. I remember reading you exercise quite a lot, so I think that'd be more helpful for you personally.

I do have one of these: <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://image.wisdomking.com/images/pictures/0/103/photo_14.jpg

I check once a day to make sure I can breathe the same volume, and look for changes. It's not quite the same but it's a nice kind of general tool. (and free from your doc or the hospital)

Hey there: Personally I think we should leave the PFT;s to the pro's. I think it is too easy to get caught up in the numbers. Once every couple of months is enough for me. I don't even want to know the numbers. It is like taking your pulse everytime You have a panic attack. I know Im getting sick I know when my PFT are going to be bad. I know Im having a panic attack. I really don't want to know the details. I just want the doctor to tell me it' time to come in and that numbers are declining. That's all I need to know. I think it depends on your motives. If you think it will help motivate you then go ahead. I know I need to exercise everyday, and take my meds. and I know Im doing everything I can to be my very best. There is not much more I can do. I think for me having to log my blood sugars is more than enough.

Remember that is just my opinion.

God Bless and let us know what you decide.

If you decide to get one it looks like a good one. Do you have a PT person you can call or a RT you can talk to about the particular model you want. Maybe they know the best one on the market.

That's a really good point; I mean, I could see myself getting obsessed w/ it and constantly checking it. I guess the biggest reason to go to the dr. isn't your numbers, it's the way you feel. However, for me it somehow makes me feel like I had some sort of control over my CF. Maybe this is illogical, but these days I'll take what I can get <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">
