I'm looking for stories, anecdotes, etc. about retirement life. They can be funny, unbelievable, sad, larger than life, etc. I'm working on a short story project for my creative writing class and knew there were many fabulous folks on here who might be willing to share. They don't have to include CF issues, etc. I'm just looking for some story ideas because I have to write a short story as if I were 30 years older and I'm struggling at where to begin. I thought retirement might be a good springboard as I will be 62 in 30 years. A few sentences or a paragraph would be plenty to give me something to work from.

If you don't feel comfortable posting your story here, please feel free to email me at emily@serendipitypric.com OR just send me a private message. Let me know if I can give credit to you for helping me out of this writers block jam!!!

Thanks!

This is a sad story, but true. Our warehouseman's next door neighbour, was a bricklayer to trade and he used to do some work for people in his spare time now that he was reited. He was building a 'wishingwell' in the warehousemans garden, he started it on the Thursday, on the Friday afternoon his wife of 50 years passed away suddenly. The next day, Saturday, my workmate looked out his window and saw the man doing his work, he went out and asked if he should just now and that he could finish it anytime. Well the man was adamant that he wanted to finish the job that day, so he continued and indeed he finished it that evening.
The next morning he was found dead in his bed, he apparently died of a broken heart, couldent live without his dear wife.

Dont know if this is what your after, but it is indeed a true story.
