Rings Question

Okay so this is for anyone who wears any kind of ring regularly. I'm talking about a ring you wear almost all the time (if not all).

Our weight fluctuates a lot. At least, mine does. My ring fits fine first thing in the morning (fingers are fat right when I wake up). It fits pretty good during the day. I have to adjust it every now and then, but it stays put. Some days, though, it fits better than others. I don't know what to do the days that it feels loose. And showering is a huge mess. I usually take it off when I shower because it feels like it'll slide right off (and sometimes starts to, before I stop it). When I was on Meropenem and stopped eating for almost 5 days straight, it got incredibly loose.

I'd like very much if I could make my ring fit better for most of the time, so that I could keep it on in the shower. I hate taking it off. So I'm wondering what you guys do. Do you have any solutions for rings that seem to fit differently one day to the next? Or do you just suck it up and deal with it? What do you do with weight fluctuations? You can't very well go resizing a ring every 2-3 months.

I gain a ton of water weight, especially in my extemities, at night and through the early morning.

my ring does not fit after about 6pm and it wno't start fitting again until i've been awake & up & moving for over an hour.

I just don't wear my ring at that time.

Hey, Em!

I've had two wedding rings in my life, and the first one was worse than yours...I actually ALMOST lost it down the sink drain!! As I was washing my hands, it slipped off the finger, and started rolling around the sides of the basin before I could stop it!!

The wedding ring I have now, was fitted to where it was a bit tight around the knuckle, but if it were manipulated enough, it would eventually come off.
I also noticed on some days it's loose, while other days it's tighter around the finger. Could be a cross between serious weight fluxuation and water retention, due to the imbalance of salt.

I have to take the ring off before my Iaido practice, and if I remember soon enough, I'll use a little soap to help ease it off with less 'discomfort' to my finger. So, on those days where it's really tight, I just suck it up (or suck it in) when I'm pulling it off. I know, sometimes it sucks.

If you're not referring to your engagement, or wedding ring, then I hope the info helps you when you make your decision about how the ring will fit.

Good luck!

I use one of those teeny-tiny rectangular bandaids (pinkie bandaids we call 'em) and wrap it around the ring. The pad from the bandaid keeps the adhesive from actually touching the metal and getting it all gunked up. Also, if you're the fair skinned type, the bandaid color blends in nicely to your palm and doesn't look weird.

I don't know about you, but I wear a very small ring size (4), but even when I'm sick and underweight, my clubbed fingers keep it from falling off. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> Who knew that goofy looking fingers could actually serve a purpose! lol

Ha, I always have to take my rings off before bed other wise they are cutting into my swelled fingers by the am. I have no useful info I just thought I'd add a general "me too!!!!...so annoying *growl*" to the thread. Course if my ring was a nice pretty engagement ring I would probably be a little less growly about it but alas... Johnny Depp has yet to offer me that diamond I'm waiting on. *sigh* (course he could have me minus the diamond on a moments notice, who am I kidding *snort*!)

Alright sorry for the junk mail on your thread. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
