Robitussin Question

Ok, so I've been reading about Robitussin and how it helps thin cervical mucous when trying to get pregnant. The general consensus seems to be to start taking it a week before ovulation and a week after. My question is why should you keep taking it for a week after you ovulate?? Is it just to make sure, in case you think you ovulated sooner than you actually did?
Just wondering!

There is no need to take it after you have ovulated. The egg only lives 24 hours so it would just be a waste of the med. You can take Mucinex instead of Robitussin if you want - I found a pill (or a few pills) easier to handle than all that yucky liquid you'd have to drink to get the same amount of the active ingredient.

I started taking the Mucinex about 3-4 days before I knew I would ovulate (I chart so I am very familiar w/ my cycle). And once I confirmed ovulation, I stopped taking it.
