Well, I was just given the news before leaving home. <img src="i/expressions/beer.gif" border="0"><img src="i/expressions/wine.gif" border="0">
I've been FIRED! <img src="i/expressions/brokenheart.gif" border="0">
I feel it would have saved me more time and energy IF they would have screened me better, before telling me (and this was discouraging) I can't translate to their standards as a professional. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-disgusted.gif" border="0">
I think they gave me the he*l week, just to do this to me! <img src="i/expressions/devil.gif" border="0">
So, the bad thing is, I don't know what kind of job I'll find here. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif" border="0">
The good thing is, I don't have to pass the ex-wifes place every day on the way to work and back, and hopefully, I can find a new job that doesn't take nearly two hours to commute, nor have to deal with another company that lacks in managerial skills. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-mad.gif" border="0">
The fact that I even left a company I worked at for nearly 13 years for this is a bit regrettable, and yet, at least because I can get up to 3 months of unemployment insurance (I think it'll be that way cause I was fired, despite it was only 3 months in the new company), until I can get a new job, I can relax a little, maybe. <img src="i/expressions/musicnote.gif" border="0">
Of course, I ain't gonna sit back for that long, in fact I get a bit ancy about being unemployed for too long. Besides, the days I'm not searching for a job, may be stuck at home with the MIL to drive me insane! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-disgusted.gif" border="0">
I just hope there is some sort of reasoning, and that the next-coming job beats the others by a landslide. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

(Of course, now's a bad time to find blood in my sputum, again. Must've been from yelling so much at the MIL, after getting home, and she had started s**t! Hope my national health insurance still works even when I'm unemployed!!)

I'm sorry you lost your job, but from your previous posts, it
sounds like your life will be a lot less stressful without that
particular annoyance. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">  And I commend you for finding the
positive aspects of  the situation, I know sometimes that can
be hard.  I really hope you find a new job that is
unequivocally superior to your last one.  Good Hunting!

Oh, I have a question...I thought masterless samurai were Ronin?
 I'm sure you are more knowledgeable than me about this
so I'm curious about the right word.  Is ronin
americanized or are both terms acceptable?

Yeah, I thought the same thing as Kanake676... *scratches head* Anyway, I like the title! Clever! I'm sorry you lost your job, though, that sucks... You think your manager would have had the foresight to check that out BEFORE they hired you! I guess the managers in Japan are no better than in the U.S., eh? Hopefully you'll find a job you can settle with soon!

Friend of mine taught English in Japan for several years. She didn't have a teaching degree, but did have a bachelor's in english. Is that an option for you?

I am sorry to hear that you lost your job, but as another poster said, it sounds like they were putting so much stress on your plate as it was. Hopefully, your next job will be much less stressful for you. I will be thinking of you.

Sean, I'll inquire by e-mail, but realized after I posted, I'll need most that stuff in Japanese!! I won't be needing a cover letter, but am wondering if she is familiar with resume structures for civilian jobs related to the military.
For those who guessed "Ronin", to mean "masterless", are correct! I guess I got so perturbed about the situation, and had to deal with the MIL (Hurt my hand slamming it on the table, twice this time!), couldn't even get my Japanese right!!
BTW, "Rojin" with a long "o" would mean "elderly", so in a way, I guess I'm not TOO far off! Apparently in Japan, finding jobs after 40 is nearly impossible.
But, presuming that I got "Ronin" correct, wasn't sure if everyone knew the definition of it, so I added that.
Anyway, I'm at work now (it was SOOO hard to come to work, today) and wanted to leave soon, to start my job search, and see the doc about the blood in my sputum (It's still showing!), but they can't discuss my situation until noon, today!
meantime, I'm cleaning out my desk and computer, and collecting some documents (paper trails), in case I have any future trouble.
I still have to find out if:
a. I still have to put them on my resume.
b. Make sure what the reasons for dismissal are, and that they agree with my statment. (their intention to hire me changed from the beginning)
c. That the reasons for dismissal are due to their misjudgement, not anything to do with me (looks better on a resume, wouldn't you think?)
d. If I'll still have health care coverage until I get another job. (If not, I'm REALLY screwed, eh?!)
e. If I'll still have unemployment insurance coverage!!

Basically, I think the plans for me went south, when one of their key employees quit to go live in France. They had spent buku bucks on some translation software, to find out they needed someone with the knowledge to manage it, and for me to also operate it. So, when the dude decided that living on the streets of Paris with a guitar in his hand seemed like a better lifestyle, they all looked at me to try and figure out what to do with me, and another translator. I bet they figured that two translators were not necessary, so decided to give us he*l week to decide which one won't be able to cut the cake!
So, without any former training for their "unwritten" translation style, and the demands that Panasonic has (I feel less like patronizing Panasonic, now!) for instruction manual design, they tore me a new hole when checking my translations.

So, now that translation is not fit for me at this juncture, I was thinking about other possibilities for electronics. Job fields, like:
1. Automotive
2. Medical (Biomedical Tecnicians)
3. Remote Control Car
4. ?

Work I'd like to do, but am not qualified for:
1. English Teacher ( I don't have a Bachelor's degree, nor do they even pay as an entry salary near to what I was making.)
2. Bouncer for a rough bar (Like in "Road House")
3. Super Hero- fighting crimes against smoking in non-smoking areas
4. Assasin - Every target is created equal in this job, but hard to do when the only leagal weapon in this country is a sword, or soft-airgun!
5. Paperback Writer
6. Stand-up Comedian in Japan (they're usually sitting down, though!)

Thanks for clearing that up about the Ronin, Fred. But I learned a new word (rojin) so thanks for that (I know, I'm a dork)! Anyway, I'd go for either the bouncer or the assasin, even if you only get limited weapons (swords are fun!). Seriously, though, I hope you get to do something that you actually want to be doing sometime soon. Hopefully your next boss won't screw you over! >_<

Lilith, maybe the next boss who screws me, you can sick Bob, your purple dragon on him!
Problem with the assasin thing, I might make up my own targets, based on the long list that has begun to generate in the past two years.
Let's see; Ex, jerk of a boss, MIL, boss who screwed me over... the list is already started (*evil laugh*)

Bouncer would've been nice, could probably take out my frustrations. But then, a bouncer's job is probably only to keep the peace.

Too bad I can't dress up in a black cape, and drive in a cool looking jet-engined car, but that idea is taken, and I'm not from Krypton, either.

Oh well, I had been thinking that electronics is my only joy.
