Run down

Do any of you ever just get exhausted. Not just a little tired but exhausted to the point you can't walk 30 feet without getting out of breath. This happens to me when I push myself for too long, too hard. Right now I feel like this and I know it's not an infection, but just being physically run down. What's the best way to recover other than just rest and oxygen.<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-cool.gif" border="0">

I don't really know what the answer is Jade.. I am in the same boat now..well almost the same boat.. I can still walk and stuff.. but my body hurts and I am chronically tired.

I know for me what I need to do is, stop doing everything, and just rest... Stay home, sleep my usual 10-12 hours of sleep a night.. do extra treatments, but that is not possible for me to do right now.. I am to the point that even my days off are not enough to make me feel reenergized...I am doing what I can though, going to bed by 8 or 9 pm everynight. Taking baths, trying to shut my brain down, etc....Sometimes I just take extra steroids which will help me with my energy level as well.

If you can maybe get some extra rest.

Hope you get some energy soon...

When I get that tired <b>and</b> out of breath, for me it usually means there's an infection. If I'm just exhausted without really being out of breath, then I would try to take a week off work and just rest. Take more than 1 or 2 days, plan a week or something. That way it's a week at home and at your own doing, rather then the doctors ordering the same rx but in the hospital. Treat yourself like you're in the hospital and hopefully you'll get better on your own time. Good luck.

Jade, have you had your vitamin/mineral levels checked lately? Frequent courses of antibiotics rob you of your B vitamins and some also suck up your iron stores. Low levels of either or both of these can cause extreme tiredness and lack of iron can cause breathlessness too.
We all get tired sometimes especially this time of year so a holiday is probably a good idea, but try a good B complex tablet each day as well and get your iron checked, otherwise a holiday won't help much.

Thanks all, I think my vitamin levels are o.k although my potassium is always low for whatever reasons. They always give me potassium powders in the hospital. I guess just tea and some time resting (<i>mentally & physically</i>) is a good idea unless it gets worse for some reason.<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-cool.gif" border="0">

I know how you feel Jade. I feel the same way a lot of times. I just recently graduated college, and I was pretty much always tired through the whole semester. Towards the end of all the semesters I would just get soooo tired that I woud almost give up. A lot of times, I would just say to myself ohhh IVs and a two week vacation...that will help me. I know its a horrible attitude to have and that if I just took care of myself that prob wouldnt happen, but I dont know if thats true. I am usually still tired after IVs tho, even if I do take care of myself. There is such a balance and even now that I have started to take better care of myself, I still feel tired all the time. I hope this makes you feel better, your not alone out there. We all go through tough times....feel better soon! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
